The Story
Alice Neville has one gift that matters. She notices what others overlook, hears what others miss, and knows how to disappear in a room full of dangerous men. Richard Neville, Earl of Warwick, needs exactly that.
Calais, 1457. His garrison is bleeding. His soldiers are deserting. Someone inside his own command is feeding secrets to the French, and his captains cannot find them. Alice can.
But finding the enemy is the easy part. Because somewhere between the dockside taverns of Calais and the court of Burgundy, she begins to see Richard himself. Not the title. Not the office he holds. The man behind all of it. The man who should not want her and has long since stopped pretending he does not.
He knows what discovery would mean. She would be sent home in disgrace and everything she has built in Calais gone with her. Still, she stays.
As England edges closer to war, Alice is holding two secrets. One could bring down Richard's enemies. The other could destroy them both.
Which will undo them first?
