I write historical fiction because it gives me a way to escape, to feel connected to people, places, stories long gone, and to ask the questions that don’t always have answers.
As a child, I spoke my mind (I still do) and often felt like I didn’t quite fit (still true). Books became my escape, and history became my obsession. I grew up in the countryside, riding ponies, playing with dogs and cats, and rescuing injured birds, hares — even once a baby deer. I was always bringing something home, always trying to heal something small and fragile. That instinct still lives in me, and it lives in my characters too.
The past has always felt close, almost familiar. I walk into a castle and feel as if I’ve been there before. When I read about the Wars of the Roses, I don’t just see names or battles — I feel the tension, the ambition, the betrayals. It’s never just research. It feels lived.
Through writing, I explore love, power, desire, revenge, and the many ways people try to shape their fate. My characters don’t always make the right choices. Neither have I. But I believe in the strength it takes to walk your own path, even when it costs you.
I’m not drawn to big social events unless they involve books, history, or a chance to talk about stories. I love libraries, old castles, and quiet places where imagination can take root. Writing gives me that space. It lets me be fully myself.
